It is an honor to say morning prayers for him everyday. Unfortunately, I often forget just how important it is.
In this post, I’m going to give ideas of what scriptures to pray over your husband, and also tips on how we can train ourselves to consistently pray powerful good morning prayer messages over him.

Praying for your husband: how to start
I recently read the book “Praying for Your Husband from Head to Toe” by Sharon Jaynes. It’s an amazing book with many eye opening ways to pray for your husband. If you are looking for more books as a Christian mom, this post has all my favorites.
When I finished reading Sharon’s book, I realized I needed to figure out a way to pray for him more consistently.
My heart is to pray for my husband daily. I often remember when he is struggling with something specific, but tend to forget when things are going really well.
Wanting to make this a part of my morning routine, I decided to print out specific scriptures and prayers to pray over him each day of the week. You can print them here. I’m going to place them on my mirror in my bathroom and pray over him when I’m getting ready in the morning.
Before we pray for him, let’s see what the Lord instructs us to do as wives
…and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
Titus 2:4-5
Pray that the Lord would center your heart on Him. That your days and your heart would be filled with joy and love for your husband.
Remember that the Lord united you as one, and that is such a gift. Pray that the Lord would help you love your husband and children well, that your thoughts would be pure as you tend to your home and those around you. And that you would see submission as a gift, not a burden.
When I am in consistent prayer over my husband, these things come much easier. Submitting to his leadership, speaking kindly, and tending to my home with a happy heart – these things are exemplified through prayer.
As you pray these morning prayers for him, ask the Lord to help you see your husband as He sees him. Remember that the Lord asks us to help him. I can’t think of a better way to be his helper than to pray over him daily.
One thing I have found to be helpful is to ask my husband what he needs prayer for that week. It gives me a peek inside his heart and I want him to know that my heart’s desire is to consistently pray for him.

1. Morning prayers for him: Pray for His relationship with the Lord
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30
Pray that your husband’s relationship with the Lord will continue to grow and that he will love God with all of his heart. Pray that he would fully feel the presence of God throughout his day.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for my husband. I pray that his relationship with you will continually grow. Please place other men in his path that will encourage him and point him to You. I pray that as he loves and takes care of our family, that you will remind him that he is a child of God and that he is so loved by You. Thank you for the blessing of marriage. Please sanctify us both through it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Morning prayers for him: Pray over his hard work
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24
Pray that your husband will work as if he is working for the Lord. Pray that he will find joy in his work and glorify God in all that he does.
PRAYER: Dear God, I pray that you give my husband strength today. I pray that he has success in all that he does and that he works as if he is working for You, not for man. I pray that You open doors for him to share the good news with others with those he comes in contact with today. Father, help him to remember that You are a strong tower, and he is not doing any of this in his own strength. Thank you for the gift of my husband. Please continue to show me how I can encourage him. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Morning prayers for him: Pray for him as a leader
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7
Pray that your husband leads you gently and in an understanding way. Pray that the Lord would guide you in how to be his helpmeet.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I pray that You will give my husband strength today to be the leader you have called him to be. Help me, as his helper, to be an encouragement to him. Thank you for bringing us together. Please teach us how we can grow in our Biblical roles.
Morning prayers for him: Pray over your husband’s health
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
3 John 3:2
Pray for your husband’s health and well being. Pray that he would prosper in all that he does.
PRAYER: Dear Father, I pray over my husband’s health and well being today. I pray that his body would be whole and that no sickness or pain would consume his body. I pray that you will give him a sound mind and keep him out of harm’s way. Thank you for the blessing that he is to our family. In Jesus name, Amen.
Morning prayers for him: Pray for your husband’s strength against temptation
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Matthew 6:13
Pray for your husband to be kept safe from temptation. Pray for strength and for his actions and words to be God-honoring.
PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you will lead my husband down the right path today. Please protect his eyes and ears from things that could be a temptation. Keep his mind and heart pure, and give him Your strength when he needs it most. Thank you for giving me a best friend in my husband. I couldn’t be more thankful for all that You have done. Amen.
Morning prayers for him: Pray that he will be filled with joy
I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
Pray for your husband to be filled with the joy of the Lord in all that he does.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I simply want to pray that my husband will have an amazing day today. I pray that he will be filled with the joy and peace that only You can bring him. I pray that he will remember Your unconditional love for him. Thank you for the blessing that he is. Please watch over him today. In Jesus’ name Amen.
Morning prayers for him: Pray that the Lord would soften your heart
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Ephesians 5:21-24
Pray that the Lord would soften your heart towards your husband and his leadership. Ask Him to help you both strive to live in your Biblical roles. Pray that submitting to him as the Lord instructs would be a joy, rather than a hardship.
Dear God, thank you for giving us your Bible as a guide for how we should live in our marriage. I pray that You will help us when we are weak. That we can remember what You have called us to. Soften my heart towards my husband and his leadership. Teach me how to submit like your Word instructs me to. Humble me in all that I do. Thank you for all that you do for us as individuals, and for our marriage. Amen.
Pray with an expectant heart
God’s Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:10-11). He hears your prayers and listens to your cries for help. If your marriage is in a hard season, keep praying friend. As hard as it can be at times, love your husband well.
If you are in a strong season of your marriage, praise the Lord! Continue to pray. I know that I have slacked off when things are going well, and I regret doing so.
Consistently praying over your spouse is one of the best ways we can love them. I pray your marriage is filled with so much joy and that the Lord continues to bless you on the mountaintops and in the valleys.
