Hello! I’m Jenny. I am so glad you’re here and cannot wait to get to know you more! Before we go any further, you must know that my love for donuts runs deep. Now that we’ve got that covered, let’s dive in.
I am so passionate about helping and encouraging others. Trial and error is a way of life for me. If something isn’t working, I’ll find a way to fix it. If something is adding unnecessary stress, I’ll find a way to eliminate it or change it. I want to share what works for our family with you! I love sharing tips on how to simplify homemaking (because let’s be honest – it can be pretty overwhelming) and how and why we homeschool. We’ll also be sharing our homestead journey with you! More about that below.
My husband, Kevin, is an avid gardener and loves raising animals. He’ll be sharing some tips on here too because he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to homesteading! Our family is constantly learning new things and we love sharing what works in hopes that it will help others like you.
In 2019, we moved our family of 5 from Florida to North Carolina. We longed for the change of seasons, cooler weather, to be closer to family, and of course – the mountain life. We bought our first home in 2020 and could not be more excited about what we can do on these two acres!
In Florida, we had backyard chickens and rabbits. Right now we have backyard chickens (which, if you’re on the fence about – get you some backyard chickens!). We are in the planning stages of building fencing for goats and pigs. And of course, Kevin is always in garden mode and can’t wait to start planting again!
Some fun facts about us:
- Kevin and I only dated for 2 months before he proposed, and 5 months later we got married!
- Camping is our most favorite thing to do as a family
- I played every sport possible growing up (basketball being my #1)
- Kevin loves hammock camping, fishing and hunting
- If Jenny could host a themed party every day, she would (Columbus day celebration, anyone?)
Why the name “Hope-filled Homestead?” So glad you asked. When we were coming up with a name for our blog, we found out that we had miscarried for the second time. As heartbroken as we were, our hope in Christ only grew stronger. We cling to His promises and are so thankful for the peace and comfort that only He can offer.
We love the Lord so much and all we want to do is bring glory to Him. Our hearts are focused on doing whatever He has called us to. And right now we feel that He is calling us to share our hearts with you. Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with us!
