These handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day are sure to bring loads of love into your home this February! Each craft is creative and unique and I just know your kids are going to love them.
The crafts below are part of my monthly handicraft plan. Each month, I send out a FREE handicraft plan that includes four crafts for you to do throughout the month (one for each week!). It has a full supply list for the month and links to all of the craft instructions. It is geared for ages 4-8, but littles and older ones could definitely participate too!
The handicraft plan is full of crafts that are budget friendly, nature based, and will help teach your children hands on skills. I choose crafts that are not only fun, but also useful (and pretty).

Spreading Kindness
It’s the perfect time to talk about kindness and loving others. When you make these handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day, take this opportunity to talk about why we celebrate and how important it is to love others all the time, not just around Valentine’s Day.
Last year, I created a Valentine’s Day Countdown calendar. It included 14 random acts of kindness for kids to do the 14 days leading up to Valentine’s Day. It’s simple and easy to do, but also really meaningful for the kids. Ok, let’s get to the handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day!
Kids Handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day
1. Valentine Garland with Hearts and Pom Poms – Instructions
I just love this beautiful handmade garland for Valentine’s Day by First Day of Home. Our family has really gotten into sewing lately, so I know the girls are going to eat this one up! My kids started hand sewing on their own around age five. I definitely still need to help them at times, but once they got it down they really enjoyed being able to create on their own. If you haven’t jumped into the sewing world yet, this craft is the perfect way to start! And my pom pom maker is on it’s way, which of course I’m thrilled about. I mean, think about the possibilities! 🙂
Materials needed:
- Pom-pom maker
- Yarn
- Felt pieces
- Embroidery floss or thread
- Jute rope
- Needles for floss and jute
- Scissors
- Poly-fil or cotton balls (optional)

2. Chocolate cupcake Valentines – Instructions
Can you say, YUMMM?? This recipe from A Daily Something not only looks delicious, it’s also adorable. I just love the powdered sugar heart on top. And I’m guessing a few little people around here are going to love that part too. Baking with kids can definitely be stressful at times. My biggest piece of advice is to let them try as much as they want to, and they will ask for help when needed. Yes, your kitchen may be covered in flour and chocolate, but…memories, right?! Haha, enjoy this one friends!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup boiling hot water
- 1 1/3 cups sprouted spelt flour (we’re using all purpose)
- 2 tsp baking power
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- powdered sugar
3. DIY Flower Vase – Instructions
Always a fan favorite – this handmade craft is from Little Pine Learners. Everything we’ve made from her website is pure gold! I just love the simplicity and ease that her crafts have. We’re planning to head to goodwill for a few vases and hold on to any pretty jars we may have. This craft and the one below it will both use pressed flowers. If there aren’t any flowers to choose from nearby, these pressed flowers are a great option!
Materials needed:
- Jar- Try a pasta sauce, juice, or jelly jar.
- Mod Podge – matte
- Foam brush – These are super helpful for spreading mod podge on the jar!
- Pressed flowers
- Flameless tea light candles – Optional
4. Heart Craft for Kids – Instructions
Last up for the handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day is this beautiful heart craft from Little Pine Learners. Not only is this one beautiful, it’s also functional! It can act as a jewelry tray or hold little trinkets for your kids. These would make a great gift for grandparents or friends!
Materials needed:
- Air Dry Clay
- Matte Mod Podge
- Pressed flowers
- Heart cookie cutter – You could probably get away with cutting a heart from clay without a cookie cutter, but kids love pressing these in clay!
Handmade is always better!
I hope you enjoy these handmade crafts for Valentine’s Day! I’m sure I’m not alone in this, but I truly think handmade is the way to go this Valentine’s Day. Any of the crafts above would make great gifts this Valentine’s Day. I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!
